Crowds gathered in Skegness to watch the opening games of the Volleyball England Beach Tour at the weekend

Over 2000 people watched the competition on Central Beach, hosted by Magna Vitae, a partner to East Lindsey District Council.

Two days of action saw more than 100 players from across the country compete in the Grand Slam event which has become a huge draw for Skegness over the past Six years.

Among the winners this year was Robin Miedzybrodzki and Taylor Wilson taking the Men’s title.

The women’s title was taken by Vicki Palmer and Jess Grimson who have both represented England in the past.

James Brindle, Magna Vitae’s director of development and partnerships said: “The event went very well again with many people watching the action and all ages having a go themselves on the Spike Court. It was great to see so many people enjoying a national sporting event here in Skegness which is another boost for the local economy”.

The Beach Volleyball tour will continue in Great Yarmouth, Weston Super-Mare and Weymouth with the finals in Margate on August 15-16.
