Appointments at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital have been thrown into chaos after a fire at the site this morning (Monday) forced the cancellation of “the majority” of patient consultations.
Lincolnshire NHS Trust, which runs the hopsital, issued the following statement: “The majority of planned appointments have been cancelled at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston today, due to a fire which has meant the hospital’s imaging equipment is unavailable.
“The fire broke out earlier this morning in a duct adjacent to the X-ray Department resulting in access to imaging equipment being unavailable. The cause of the fire is not known at this point.
“The incident is under control and there is no immediate danger to patients, staff or visitors. However we have taken the decision to cancel any planned appointments at Pilgrim Hospital, with the exception of maternity, gynaecology and child appointments which will go ahead as normal.
“We are working alongside East Midlands Ambulance Service to ensure any emergencies are dealt with in an appropriate manner and a control centre has been set up.
“The hospital will be in touch with patients to rearrange planned appointments.”
