A VARIETY show fund raiser in aid of Thailand’s stray dogs demonstrated the strength of Alford’s community spirt as hundreds turned out to show their support.

Saturday Night at the Alford Palladium raised £1,600 for the Soi Dog Foundation to help it rescue and care for stray dogs in Thailand. Show organiser Teresa Turner was delighted with community spirited team effort of all the show’s contributors who donated their time and talent for free.

She said: “It was absolutely amazing - we sold all of the tickets, there wasn’t even standing room and the atmosphere was fantastic, The community spirit in Alford is incredible, it makes me so proud I can’t even put it into words.”

Teresa recruited local teachers and performers for the night of singing, dancing and entertainment, after learning of the plight of abandoned dogs through the charity.

She hopes to organise more fund raisers for the cause and is offering make-up courses at her salon, Talking Heads, with proceeds going to the charity. For info call 01507 466242.
