ALFORD & Mablethorpe’s Rotarians made spectacles of themselves when they wore unusual and outrageous glasses to welcome an eyesight charity recently.
Around 50 rotarians, their families and friends welcomed Dr David Kinnaird of Sightsavers to a special function at the Creek Club in Anderby.
The long established charity Sightsavers works with local partners in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean to alleviate preventable blindness. There are 45 million blind people in the world, but 80 per cent of blindness is avoidable.
Since 2000 Rotarians have donated almost £1m to Sightsavers.
