Alford aims to recreate the spirit of London’s Covent Garden with a charity event taking place in the town’s Market Place and Corn Exchange.
The event will feature street entertainers, stalls, musicians and plenty to keep the children occupied,.
Organisers are seeking to create the sort of buzz that prevails on a summer’s day in the capital city.
Under the banner ‘Alford does Covent Garden’, it is hoped that the event will bring in people from outside the town as well as locals.
“Over the years Alford has gained a reputation for putting on summer events, including the annual Jazz Picnic, the August Craft Market and Morris Dancing, all of which bring the community together,” commented Jo Rook, one of the organisers. “I think this will provide another great afternoon out for all the family,” she added.
Other attractions include a children’s fancy dress competition and a vintage vehicle display.
It all takes place on Sunday, July 6, from 2pm onwards.
