A FUNDRAISING quiz in St Wilfrid’s Church Hall, Alford has helped to raise £177 towards a belfry repair fund.
The Eastern Branch of the Lincoln Diocescan Guild of Church Bellringers held the quiz recently - and many bellringers, their friends and their families came from as far away as Boston, Horncastle, Kirton and Butterwick to compete.
It was the Boston/Butterwick team which emerged victorious and claimed the trophy, which was kindly donated by John Collett in memory of his wife Betty.
Afterwards the ringers tucked into a meal of jacket potatoes, lasagne and salad kindly provided by Caitlin Meyer of Alford, helped by Churchwardens Richard Willoughby and Edward Vear. The quizmistress was Julia Limage. For more information on Eastern Branch activities go to http://easternbranch.riven.me.uk/
