Wayne Norrie has been announced as the new chief executive for the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust.

The trust which was formed in 2009 sponsors five schools in the Skegness area - The Skegness Academy, The Ingoldmells Academy, Beacon Primary Academy, Skegness Infant Academy and Skegness Junior Academy.

Currently executive principal at the GDFT, Mr Norrie will take up his new post in January.

With extensive experience of supporting schools in challenging circumstances he has been both a senior HMI for Ofsted and an outstanding head teacher.

Mr Norrie, said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the next CEO of one of the strongest multi-academy trusts in the country.

“The organisation is in a great position with 82 per cent of the academies that have been inspected by Ofsted, achieving ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ overall.

“The Trust’s track record means that it continues to be an extremely attractive option for schools that are under achieving. I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue to deliver the Trust’s vision and ensuring that we enable every child within our academies to be the best they can be.”

The current chief executive, Sir Barry Day, OBE, who retires on December 31, said: “I would like to congratulate Wayne on his appointment and wish him every possible success.

“I have been privileged to lead an outstanding team of professionals that have worked with me to achieve a great deal, despite the many external forces that affect the work we do. I am sure that under Wayne, the Trust will continue to grow, both in terms of size and reputation.”
