Academy pupils interact with elderly to commemorate World War One

Beacon Primary Academy took part in a Flame for Forgiveness event recently held at Apen Lodge Care Home in Skegness.

The Flame for forgiveness fortnight from October 6 to October 19 is a project designed to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War I.

The local residential care home approached the Academy about working with them on their ‘Flame for Forgiveness’ event and

Pupils duly took part in an artistic colouring competition that was sponsored by Aspen Lodge.

The prizes awarded by the Aspen Lodge staff with first prize a £15 book voucher, second prize a £10 book voucher and third prize a £5 voucher.

The winners and the Academy Council walked to Aspen Lodge to collect their prizes and to interact with the residents.

“The pupils had a fantastic visit and enjoyed interacting with older members of the local community”, said an Academy Spokesman.
