Tuesday, 4.04pm - COMPLAINTS about the Skegness Kite and X-Fest were raised at the Town Council's latest management committee meeting.
Coun Sue Binch said she had received complaints from residents about noise and parking at the North Parade car park during the event from July 11-13.

She added: "No one coming could park in the car park and some businesses up North Parade lost 50 per cent of business as people who frequent them could not park.

"They were taken up with beer tent sponsorship people but there was no parking provision."

She also said she received complaints about noise, which she explained was horrendous because of the bands.

Coun Terry Chipchase also raised concerns. He said: "The car park is normally available and should have been full of trade tents and attractions but people did not turn up."

Coun Steve Kirk said: "There was no alternative parking. There was noise at the car park and it drove people away but take on board it was not at the expense of businesses."

The committee agreed to refer the complaints to ELDC's culture, leisure and environment portfolio holder Adam Grist. Speaking of the complaints event co-ordinator Chrissie Redford said: "It is a shame. A lot of people gave up time for the good of the town and it is a shame when people don't see the broader picture."

She explained there were as many cars as normal in the area, diversions from the North Parade car park to others in town were put in place and noise was being monitored throughout the day.
