Sunday, 9pm - THE success of the Tories in last week's local elections was welcomed by Skegness and Boston MP Mark Simmonds when he addressed the East Lindsey town and parish council assembly.
"It's a change to be 20 per cent ahead," he joked. "Normally it's the other way round."

Also present for part of the conference at Louth's Kenwick Park Hotel was Mr Simmonds' parliamentary colleague, Sir Peter Tapsell, the Conservative member for Louth and Horncastle.

There were no Labour or Liberal MPs in attendance, but Coun Gary Ellis, Labour group leader on East Lindsey District Council, jointly welcomed the 100 or so delegates with the authority's chairman, Coun Janet Harrison (who is Independent).
