Friday, 4.10pm - WRISTBANDS will be used by beach lifeguards this summer in Skegness to reunite lost children with their families.
The bands will have the child's parents' mobile phone number written on it so if the child gets lost it can quickly be reunited after a quick call from a lifeguard.

They will be distributed on the beach along with safety leaflets by the lifeguards.

Chairman of the Local Government Association's Safer Communities Board Coun Hazel Harding said: "On a hot summer's day there can be hundreds, if not thousands, of people on our beaches.

"It's very easy for a young child to wander off. Tagging your toddler allows lifeguards to get families safely through the day by quickly reuniting lost children with their parents."

In 2007 beach lifeguards in East Lindsey dealt with almost 50 incidents of lost children.

The scheme has been launched by East Lindsey District Council.
