Saturday, 9am - A MONTAGE of wire waves produced by Skegness students will be displayed in The Embassy Theatre, Grand Parade, Skegness, during the SEAS festival in September.
Silversmith Katey Felton, who lives in Sheffield, visited Skegness Grammar School and Skegness Junior School recently to produce a five metre long piece of art for the festival.

Miss Felton, a former student at the grammar school, has won five craft and design awards for her work and said the sessions were excellent and well received by those who took part.

She said: "Each student created an element for the piece whether it was a woven wire wave, coloured waves and mosaic waves."

The project has been fully funded by Arts Council England and more than 100 students were involved.

She added: "It was before Christmas when I heard about the SEAS festival and I rang the council (East Lindsey District Council] to see if I could get involved."

Miss Felton will collate the items over the next six weeks before the finished product is displayed in the Embassy Theatre.

She said she had a lot of help from the school and was pleased to pass on her expertise to the students.

She added: "My creativity started in Skegness and I wanted to give encouragement to other people in the town and show them what they can aspire to be."
