Sunday, 5pm - A SCULPTURE park could be on the cards for Skegness foreshore.
At a meeting of the town council, members warmed to a suggestion from Coun Steve Kirk that the grassed-over site of the former Festival Pavilion would be ideal for such a venture.

"It would bring a bit of extra quality to the resort and should generate international interest," enthused Coun Kirk.

"Some people might find the pieces attractive and others might regard them as disgusting, but, either way, the project would be a talking point."

If it goes ahead - and various permissions would be required from East Lindsey District Council - the project could have a mixture of permanent and temporary exhibits, possibly with sculptors offered the opportunity to showcase their work in return for forfeiting a fee.

Some of the pieces might be touch-feely, while others might be designed to be seen from afar - with the coastal windfarm as a backdrop

Predicting such a venture might attract Arts Council support, Coun Gary Ellis commented: "I am more than happy to to support the idea."

Suport was also sounded by Coun Terry Chipchase, Coun Phil Kemp, Coun Brian O'Connor and Coun George Saxon.

"It should have a theme and it needs to be uinique,"insisted Coun Chipchase.

What do you think of the plans?
