Sunday, 3pm: WAINFLEET children have been learning about the life of their community – and some of the people and organisations who help make it tick.
Lessons were delivered by police community support officer Jayne Richardson and Magdalen Primary School teacher Catherine James.

Called Our Community, the programme is funded by the East Midlands Development Agency and co-ordinated by Young Enterprise. Children are encouraged to take pride in their local community and to get involved.

PCSO Richardson said: "The programme leads pupils through a discovery of community activity, looking at the sort of jobs and roles that people play and how businesses and government work together for the good of the community.

"It has been terrific fun working with the children and I really hope that more schools decide to take part in the programme.
"These youngsters are our future and their decisions will ultimately shape their communities."

The lessons for the seven and eight-year-olds have run for five weeks.
Youngsters were led on an exploration of their community, looking at key issues affecting local life as well as important organisations contributing to the way it is run.

PCSO Richardson said: "Like every other school, the youngsters have really embraced the sessions and we've all got so much out of the programme."
