Thursday, 4.42pm - A CRACKDOWN is looming for vandals who cause mayhem on Skegness foreshore - particularly at amenity and recreation sites.
Quizzed about the problems at a meeting of the town council, new police sector head Insp Terry Ball expressed his abhorrence for those who sought to 'trash and destroy' sites created for the public good.

In recent weeks, the Sunshine play area has been particularly vulnerable, but there have also been issues at the Fairy Dell and in the Compass Gardens - for instance with alcohol and ball bearing guns.

Elsewhere, egg-throwing within the cricket ground has been a problem for residents in Richmond Drive.

Insp Ball, who has arrived in Skegness after three years in charge at Boston, revealed there had been two arrests - one for a public order offence and the other for drunkenness and exposure.

However, he feared the main culprits were children.

Where possible, his approach will be to take a tough line with parents, ensuring they are mindful of their responsibility to keep their children under control.

Insp Ball welcomed his transfer to Skegness, which he described as 'a vibrant and youthful' beat, and he pledged to bring renewed 'drive and direction' to local policing.
