Thursday, 9.21am - A PARROT from Friskney could become the most famous parrot in the world after joining Facebook.
Sarah, a blue and gold macaw, who lives at the National Parrot Sanctuary has been put on Facebook, an online social networking community, in a bid to make thousands of online friends.

Neil Jacklin of the sanctuary said: "Sarah has always been one of the most popular parrots and is well sponsored because she is so friendly.

"We thought it would be a novel idea because Facebook is full of people so we thought it would be fun to have a parrot on it.

"We're all on Facebook but I think she has more friends than we have!"
Steve Nicholls, who runs the parrot sanctuary, keeps Sarah's friends up to date with what she has been doing and pictures on her profile.

A large poster is displayed at the sanctuary inviting people to become her friend on Facebook and lots of visitors have told the centre they will definitely do it.

Sarah already has 230 friends.

Mr Jacklin said: "It started as a bit of fun but its taken off really well. She's only been on there a couple of months.

"Derren Brown is the patron of the zoo and he always goes to see Sarah first when he visits."
