Friday, 5.27pm - NEXT time you visit a friend or relative in hospital you will be reminded about hand hygiene by the NHS' newest recruit.
Skegness Hospital is one of the hospitals in the East Midlands which has installed a life-size talking cardboard 'nurse' in its fight against infection.

The nurses are part of the strategic health authorities hand in hand campaign. A motion senser activates as patients, visitors and staff walk by and a recorded message reminds them to clean their hands.

Professor Dame Catherine Elcoat, director of patient care at NHS East Midlands, said: "The 'nurses' are part of a raft of initiatives we have used to remind people of the importance of hand hygiene and we hope they will continue to help us in the battle to reduce health associated infections."
