Wednesday,5pm: EAST Midlands Trains has responded to a call for support from East Lindsey District Council and will look to add more carriages to Skegness services.
Speaking at last week's SO Festival 2010 briefing, ELDC communications officer James Gilbert said he had some concerns about the way in which travellers would arrive for the showpiece event.

"At the minute we've got people standing up all the way from Nottingham to Skegness," said Mr Gilbert.

"We want people coming to the town to enjoy the experience and take away a good impression."

The same day East Midlands Trains came back to say the matter would 'not be an issue', indicating they would respond to public demand.
"We will be strengthening many of our services to Skegness during the summer season," said spokesperson Emma Knight.

"We'll also be running an additional service using one of our longest eight-carriage trains."

The extra service will run from Derby via Nottingham this upcoming bank holiday, May 31, departing at 7.53am and arriving 10.44am. It will then operate every Saturday from July 17 to September 4.

Aside from rail travel, East Lindsey said it would tackle the crowds expected for SO Festival by investigating a park and ride scheme for the event's four-day duration.

A park and ride facility near Warth Lane was last week revealed as a long-term option being looked at by town council.
