Wednesday, 4pm: A FOOTBALL tournament was held at the Toynton campus of Linkage College on Thursday in memory of two staff members.
Eight teams made up of staff and students contested the tournament in honour of Nathan Hancock, who died from lymphoblastic lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in November 2008, and Norma Hoare, who died from cancer in July 2008.

The team wearing white T-shirts won the tournament and were presented with a trophy by Nathan's mother, Sarah Hancock.

Nathan was a keen supporter of Aston Villa Football Club which donated ribbons and a scarf for the event.

The event raised £276 which will be split between the chemotherapy suite at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, which cared for Norma, and the City Hospital in Nottingham, where Nathan was treated.

One of the organisers, Charlotte Bee, is hoping the event will be held annually. She said: "The event was really successful. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

"It raised awareness of people suffering with cancer and it was a great opportunity to remember the staff."
