Wednesday, 4pm - AN out-of-season beach clean by the Skegness-based Marine Conservation Society revealed an increase in fishing debris being washed onto the central beach.
Co-ordinator Anthea Briggs said she wondered whether the newly-installed wind turbines were having an affect on the tides.

The report said the main litter was plastic with 39 plastic bottles and 43 plastic bags collected off the sand despite there being recycling bins on the promenade. Eighteen drinks cans were were also picked up.

On a positive note, only one cigarette butt was found during the clean up, a dramatic improvement from the end of the season when most of the items collected were butts.

The group is encouraging people to take their rubbish away and wants East Lindsey District Council to provide more bins.
