Hospital reveals revamp
Thursday, 1.33pm - PATIENTS in Skegness are starting to see the benefits of improvements made at Skegness Hospital.
Deep cleaning of wards and the replacement of old and worn uniforms has seen a drop in the already low rates of MRSA and Clostridium difficile (C Diff) at the Lincoln Road hospital.
Matron Jackie Shaw said: "We are delighted to be putting into place measures which will help staff improve the way we care for patients at Skegness Hospital as well as the patients' experience."
Electronic profiling beds have resulted in less physical handling of patients, while new hoists on beds ensure lifting of patients is safer and easier.
Funding from the Primary Care Trust has also increased the number of defibrilators, while flat screen TVs, curtains and new bed covers have been added to make a hospital stay more comfortable for patients.
Miss Shaw added: "By listening to staff and patients' comments, we think we have made the best use of that investment by purchasing equipment which will help is to continue caring for patients at Skegness Hospital well into the future."
Outpatient areas, consulting rooms, rehabilitation units and the physiotherapy room has also been revamped and the hospital also plans to refurbish the x-ray department, while new fire alarms and emergency lighting is being designed for installation.
