Tuesday, 8.50am - FREE Travel is being given to youngsters in rural parts of Lincolnshire over the Christmas and New Year period.

Lincolnshire County Council has announced plans to scrap charges for 17 years olds and younger on all its CallConnect buses from Monday, December 21 to Saturday, January 2 as a festive treat.

LCC's public transport strategy manager Anita Ruffle said: "We like to give as much back to our passengers as possible.

"At this time of year when money has to go so much further, we thought we could help young people all over the county who are planning their Christmas shopping or to meet up with friends."

The Call Connect service allows people to book their bus journeys in advance and travel bewteen fixed pick-up points.

It works alongside the Inter Connect fixed route bus network by connecting people living in rural villages outside of the main bus routes, with the transport network.

The service operates throughout the county and is often seen in the Skegness, Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards, Spilsby and Alford areas.

To use Call Connect, contact the booking centre on 0845 234 3344 to become a member.

Call Connect does not operate on bank holidays, including Christmas and Boxing Day and New Year's Day
