Crossing plea turned down

Saturday, 1pm - AN attempt to secure safer road crossing for children in Wainfleet All Saints has hit the buffers.
Following concerns by parents, the town council wrote to the authorities seeking either a pelican crossing or a lollipop officer at the junction of High Street and Magdalen Road near the primary school.

But at the annual town meeting, residents heard the request had been rejected because there were insufficient children crossing the road to meet existing criteria.

The mayor, Coun Mick Chappini, resolved not to let the matter drop.
