Tuesday, 10am: A THUMBS up has been given for a business to continue with its operations at the site left dormant by the closure of a major factory.
At a planning meeting at Skegness Town Hall last Tuesday town councillors supported Ramco's planning application to continue with operating as a warehouse, distribution and retail centre in the previous Minebea factory.

Coun Neil Cooper said: "It's re-using a building that would have stayed empty if no one else took it on.

"A lot of people were out of work when it closed so it's a good thing for Skegness."

At its peak Minebea employed 400 people at its Skegness site on Church Road South, Skegness, but closed in February.

Ramco took the site over in April to combine its two other sites on Burgh Road Trading Estate and Church Lane, Croft to offer greater processing facilities.

The company sells former US Department of Defence goods online but the new site has provided it with the opportunity to operate retail opportunities from the site.

Town councillors also approved the application for an extension to a bungalow on Seacroft Drive, alterations to a cafe front on Lumley Road and the conversion of a shop's first floor into a flat on Lumley Road. All final decisions are made by East Lindsey District Council.
