Wednesday, 11.56am - CCTV images of a burglary being carried out at the Co-op supermarket in The Green, Chapel St Leonards, has been released by police.
The burglary took place in the early hours of Monday, June 9 this year, and involved three men, two of which enetered the store through the roof at around 1am.
The men carried out an untidy search inside the store, getting away with around £8,000 worth of cigarettes and £7,000 worth of alcohol, toiletries, lottery tickets and cash. Attempts were also made to break into the ATM cash machine, but these failed.
The CCTV footage has been released in a bid to trace these criminals who police believe may be part of a team working throughout the country.
The images clearly show two men entering through the roof, one of them attacking the cash machine, two bagging cigarettes and alcohol and one searching the store.
They are all wearing dark clothing.
DC Paul Carville, leading the investigation, said: "The CCTV footage is very powerful and provides us with some important information, but not the identity of those responsible. However, someone knows who these men are.
"Equally, someone must have seen suspicious activity or a vehicle parked at the store on the morning of Monday 9 June.
"These criminals appear to be very confident and focused and know exactly what they want. This makes us believe that the burglary is a highly planned and organised crime.
"We need to find these men."
He said the men put the goods in green plastic bags and is appealing for information from people who saw them being loaded into a vehicle, or who saw suspicious activity.
