Wednesday, noon: POLICE and coastguards have called off the search for a missing Spalding man following the discovery of his body.
Shaun Slack's body was discovered by Humberside Coastguard in the sea off the north east coast at Spurn Head at around noon on Saturday.

Mr Slack, 51, from Cley Hall Drive in Spalding was formally identified yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, by family members at Grimsby Hospital.

He was reported missing by his wife on Thursday, April 24, having failed to return from Anderby Creek where he had visited relatives.

Mr Slack's car was discovered the same day he was reported missing, close to the beach at Wolla Bank, near Chapel St Leonards.

An extensive search of the area and coastal strip was carried out by HM Coastguard, Air Sea Rescue, Louth Search & Rescue, Mablethorpe Lifeboat and officers from across Skegness sector.

Tragically, all efforts failed to locate any trace of him.

The circumstances that led to Mr Slack's death are now in the hands of HM Coroner for Grimsby.
