A new marathon is sprinting ahead after recieving £8,000 in sponsorship from Boston Big Local.

The new Boston Marathon, set to be held on Sunday, April 17, and going through the fens of South Lincolnshire, has already had 46 people sign up.

Organisers have called the donation a ‘tremendous boost’ for the event which is estimated to cost £15,000.

Organising chairman Richard Austin said: “We hope it develops into a marathon for serious runners and a tremendous opportunity for charities to raise funds through relay teams.

“The relay event will mean anybody can join in the fun – it there’s enough in the team they won’t have to run that far.”

The registration deadline is April 3, 2016, and volunteer marshalls are sought to help on the day.
