Wednesday 2pm -

MOTORBIKE stunt men are set to wow crowds at the upcoming Mablethorpe Motorcycle Festival - expected to attract up to 3,000 people to the resort.
The event is being organised by local couple Gary Barnes and Tina Ambridge to raise money for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance - and boost local tourism in the process.

Gary said: "We've been putting the word out and handing out flyers all over the place, including Norwich and as far north as Newcastle. We're hoping this will extend the tourist season and offer something slightly different to people here."

The festival on March 20 will run from 11am until 5pm and culminate in the evening with live music and a raffle in Sharkys Bar on the seafront.

Gary said: "We are getting bookings now from various motorcycle clubs including Skegness Motorcycle club, Wolds Bikers, HM Plant Honda in Louth and some of the current British Superbike and Superstock riders will be in attendance too."

Stunt riders from the group Skard 4 Life from Middlesex will be taking part and putting on a display at Queen's Park car park.

"These guys will be performing at times throughout the day and will also have a wheelie machine for people to attempt their skills safely without fear of falling off," Gary said.

Stalls selling various items from leather clothing to Harley Davidson bikes will be set up at the car park opposite Sharky's Bar on Quebec Road. Visitors can also watch action on the nearby skatepark and visit the fairground which will be opening for that weekend with rides on offer at 99p each.

Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership will also be on hand to offer advice on safer riding.

Concluding, Gary added: "There's never been anything like this in Mablethorpe before and the response from people and traders has been very positive for what we're trying to do for the town. We are hoping the local guest houses will be full that weekend."

Raffle tickets are available on the day for the main prize of two British Super Bike tickets with VIP hospitality donated by Honda Racing Manager Neil Tuxworth.
