A 24-HOUR Karaoke fund raiser is to be held at the Welcome Inn, Skegness, over the May day bank-holiday weekend.
The annual event, now in its fourth year will raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and has helped to raise over £10,000, as the pub’s chosen charity, with just over £2,500 raised in last year’s event alone.
A five-a-side football tournament is also scheduled for Sunday, before the 24-hour karaoke commences, with teams registering from 10.30am onwards.
Entry in the tournament is £25 a team and will be overseen by a licensed referee.
Teams will play for the ‘Shirley Croft Memorial Trophy’, in memory of landlady Clare’s mother, who suffered with the disease, with medals awarded to the winners and runners up in the tournament.
The Welcome Inn’s landlady Clare Chrysostomou said: “Having witnessed first-hand the fantastic support and assistance of the Macmillan cancer support nurses, it is a charity close to my families’ heart and hopefully again with people’s support we can raise as much as possible so they can continue their great work and even beat last year’s total!”
Anyone is invited to take part in the event and those not wishing to take part in the tournament or daring to sing, can also do their bit by sponsoring others to last the full 24-hours.
They can also sponsor the bike-a-thon fund-raiser, have their hair ‘waxed-off’ or buy a ‘memory balloon’, with a message for a loved one attached, to be let off at the finale of the event.
The 24-hour karaoke will take place from 5pm on Sunday, May 6, until 5pm Monday, May 7, and a fully licensed bar will be operating throughout.
Sponsorship forms can be collected from the Welcome Inn on Burgh Road, or call 01754 766340 for more information. All proceeds to the Macmillan cancer nurses of Skegness.
