St Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching, so now is the time to put your thinking cap on and make 2014 something truly special for your loved one.

Whatever you’ve got planned, it pays to be well prepared.

The best restaurants and eateries book up rapidly, so don’t delay. Pick up that phone book and get dialing. You don’t want to leave it until it’s too late and find the place your other half adores is already booked solid.

Of course, Valentine’s Day is so much more than just a stunning meal in perfect surroundings. There are a whole host of things that you can do to make the day extra special.

A beautiful piece of jewellery from one of the area’s many bespoke jewellers is a timeless and lasting reminder of your love for one another.

Or how about something a little out of the ordinary? Specialist gift suppliers offer unique days out and so much more.

How about taking in the breathtaking scenery of the area in a hot air balloon. There are flights surprisingly close by, and they really don’t have to break the wallet.

Or what about the perfect romantic break away? Lincolnshire boasts some beautiful locations, and they’re right on your doorstep. If you wish to head further afield it’s also perfectly located for several airports - including Humberside and East Midlands - and there’s a ferry port just to the north in Hull, which caters for short trips to jaw-droppingly beautiful European destinations such as Bruges.

Even if the budget doesn’t stretch that far, it’s the little things that count. Why buy some mass produced chocolates on the day, when you can give them the truly personal touch, and head to one of the county’s many bespoke chocolatiers, such as Hames in Skegness or Special Edition Chocolate near Market Rasen, and make your own chocolate box?

There really are so many options in Lincolnshire for you and your loved one this Valentine’s Day. What you will you do?
