Skegness Silver Band is set to host a special concert this week to help raise cash for a trip to Skegness’s twin town of Bad Gandersheim.
The popular band ae trying to raise funds for the trip with a cabaret-style ‘Midsummer Night at The Movies’ concert at the Grosvenor Hotel this Friday at 7.30pm.
The group’s previous trips in 2001 and 2005 established a firm musical connection between the two towns, with major concerts given in both Bad Gandersheim and in the picturesque castle courtyard of a neighbouring spa town.
“The twinning relationship is now of some 34 years standing and the German contingent will shortly be arriving for this year’s annual reciprocal visit,” said a spokesperson.
“Sadly, they won’t arrive in time for this week’s concert which will feature some of the best known movie themes, from James Bond and Jurassic Park, to Love Story and Beaches; all played to a spectacular visual backdrop.
“But for those who are able to go, it’s a great opportunity to put on the glad rags and enjoy an evening of dramatic music in beautiful surroundings, whilst helping Skegness promote its cultural links.
“There’ll be a licensed bar and the opportunity to purchased food - ideal for a night out with friends,” they added.
Tickets are £5 per head and available from www.wegottickets.com/event/219209.
