Oklahoma! to screen at film club

MUSICAL classic Oklahoma! will be screened by Louth Film Club next week.

On Monday, July 9 at the Playhouse Cinema in Louth the club will be screening a restored, digital print of the great Rodgers & Hammerstein musical.

“It’s a film that really must be seen on the big screen to be appreciated, for its Cinemascope, Technicolor splendour,” said a spokesperson.

“And its wonderful songs, including Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin’, People Will Say We’re In Love, I Cain’t Say No and the rousing title song, should be heard on big cinema speakers.

“Starring Gordon McRae, Shirley Jones, Gloria Grahame and Rod Steiger, Oklahoma! tells the story of an exuberant rivalry between cowboys and farmers, whilst cowboy Curly sets out to win the heart of farm girl Laurey,” they added.

Oklahoma! is Certificate U. The show starts at 7.30pm.

Non-members are welcome, paying the normal Playhouse Cinema ticket prices. The film will be the closing event of Louth Music Festival.
