Digby’s Pet Show and gala attracts crowds with their animal pals

Pet Lovers hurried down with their cute friends to enter them into a prestigious pet show and have them gain an all important rosette, this afternoon.

The final day of the Carnival Week’s action-packed calendar was held today in Tower Gardens with Digby’s Pet Show and Gala.

All sorts of four-legged friends arrived in their droves to get in on the competition from tiny puppies to cute cats and others.

The judging began around 1pm, with 19 classes to be announced in total.

Class one included the puppies and despite tough competition, Mark Ball and his Maltese puppy Simon won first place.

Teresa Cowie, son Mason and dog Lilly won second place.

In class four, just two cats were entered into the feline category, with Mrs Julie Dutton coming first with Koffe the Burmese and Samantha White, Amy and John Stenton coming second with the beautiful black Gizmo.

The event was held from 10am - around 4pm and despite this morning’s heavy downpours, the sun came out blazing in the afternoon and visitors arrived in their plenty to browse the stalls and catch a glimpse of the cute animals.
