Festive plans have finally been revealed forSkegness, with a whole host of fun and magical splendour set to take place.
Shoppers will have already seen the Hildreds Centre being transformed into a Winter Wonderland ready for the big Christmas Lights Switch On, with the big night set for November 29.
Skegness Town Council, The Skegness Partnership, local retailers, the Carnival Committee and The Hildreds Centre has clubbed together to bring the most memorable and joyous year to the town.
On November 29, there will also be the Reindeer Parade which will start at 6.30pm with Peter and Paul, Santa’s newest reindeer; Sam Kirk from Lincs FM will be joined by Helen Bates; Mayor of Skegness Mark Anderson will be there, the Skegness Carnival Queen and Princess and Santa will also pop by to switch on the lights and the Hildreds’ displays.
The Magical Santa and the 24ft Christmas Chocolate Factory Grotto will also be open on the night, with prior booking essential. Free Car parking will be on the Lawn Avenue car park from 6pm on all four late nights and the Hildreds will be open until 9pm. The following Late Night Thursdays will be known as Christmas Xtras and there will be something special going on every night until 8pm. On Thursday, December 6, Santa’s Reindeer Peter and Paul will be at the centre again. There will also be a Christmas Lantern Parade from the Skegness Cricket Ground on Richmond Drive to the front of the Hildreds Centre which will travel down ‘Quality Street’ (Lumley Road renamed for Christmas only). St Martin will be at the front of the parade and he will tell his story before meeting Santa and his reindeer.
The weekend of December 8 and December 9 will see a Victorian Christmas Market outside the Hildreds and Skegness will also host a Hungarian Christmas Market along ‘Quality Street’ (Lumley Road). Thursday, December 13, will be “All Things Magical”, there will be wizards and magicians in town as well as Eddy the Elf.
The final late night - Thursday, December 20 will be the Live Nativity Parade along the sea front towards the front of the Hildreds Centre, where there will be a stable with lots of animals. Pets are also welcome.
