BEACH-goers in Skegness are set to be treated to a whole host of free seaside entertainment this summer.
The district council’s Beach Rangers entertainments team will be out in force from this Friday until September 4.
Running daily, between 11am and 4pm, the Beach Rangers - who are similar to Butlin’s Redcoats - will offer a range of exciting activities for families and friends to enjoy free of charge.
This year the rangers have also teamed up with Volleyball England, Rounders England, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Lincolnshire Cricket to offer a host of sporting fun and games alongside more traditional beach activities, such as sandcastle building, sand drawing and football.
The sporting flavour to proceedings begins this weekend when Volleyball England’s National Beach Tour stops off in the town for the SO Festival.
Rounders England will also be in Skegness on August 5 and 6, and the RFU will be running tag rugby sessions on August 13.
“We are delighted to announce that the Beach Rangers will return to Skegness and Mablethorpe this year,” said district council leader, Coun Doreen Stephenson.
“We’ve got an amazing summer beach programme planned, which should appeal to everyone. We are encouraging all young people, friends, families and parents to get involved and try something new.
“This year, we are pleased to be working with a number of sports development agencies, so hope to provide an even better programme of events than last year.”
Tom Richardson, 19, will be one of the beach rangers this summer, for the second year running. He said: “This year should be brilliant as we’ve got lots of links with sports organisations, so I’m sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”

Other Beach Ranger events are also planned for further up the coast in Mablethorpe.
