Win tickets for Made in England art exhibition’s homecoming to Skegness
An art enthusiast takes a closer look at Chris Schubert's 'Carl and Buck,' which featured in the Made in England exhibition when it visited Hangony Hungary.
An exhibition showcasing 20 talented local artists and what their ‘little corner of England’ means to them, is celebrating its triumphant return to Skegness after a successful European tour.
Renowned digital artist John Byford’s Made in England exhibition, will go on display at the Embassy Theatre, Skegness, om Monday, December 17.
Mr Byford said: “I am overwhelmed by the critical acclaim the exhibition has received so far.
“All of the hard work and hundreds of miles travelled will have paid off when the artists and people of Skegness can see their exhibition in its entirety at the Embassy - well done everyone!”
To celebrate the exhibition’s homecoming, Mr Byford and the Embassy have teamed up with the Standard to offer one of its readers two tickets to a special preview event on Saturday, December 15 at 5pm.
The launch will also coincide with the first performance of this year’s festive pantomime production of Cinderella at the Embassy - for which the lucky winner will also receive two tickets, as well as a signed copy of the 50-page quality souvenir catalogue containing details of the inspirational works featured in the exhibition.
Made in England’s premiere in the town it celebrates follows two successful European tours, first to Skegness’s German twin town Bad Gandersheim and then on to Hangony in Hungary, where it was welcomed with much admiration and helped cement cultural relationships through the ‘Transnational Network.’
Three lucky artists were also given the opportunity to travel with the exhibition to Germany where they were able to explore potential new avenues for their future careers and gauge the response of an international audience.
Mr Byford first made an appeal for artists to submit their work back in April after being offered the opportunity to curate an exhibition in Germany by representatives of the town who had visited the SO Festival in 2011.
He felt this would be a fantastic chance to showcase the talents of local people to a wider audience, while strengthening cross-European ties, and was delighted by the response he received.
To enter the competition, simply cut out the entry form on page 12 of tomorrow’s Standard, answer the question, and send it in before noon on Friday.
