Traditional style photo studio opens in Skegness
Traditional, old time photographs like this will be available at a new business opening in Skegness.
A new photography studio has opened in Skegness, harking back to an era when a family portrait meant more than a quick snap for Facebook.
Skegness Old Time Photo Company aims to take families on a journey through time, with authentic costumes from a choice of bygone eras, leaving them with a sepia framed keepsake for proud display.
“With smartphones and digital cameras, anyone can take a picture these days but although that is instant, it’s also easily deleted or forgotten about,” said business owner Alex Mcintyre.
“What we do gives it a new dimension, with a nostalgic experience and all the fun of dressing up in authentic costumes.”
Mr Mcintyre previously operated the business as a mobile attraction, visiting shows and fairs around the country but has now chosen Skegness Pier as a permanent base, which he feel complements the traditional feel he hopes to achieve.
Families, couples and individuals can choose from costumes representing the Victorian ages, the Wild West, gangster-era America or the Boer War, which can be slipped over their regular clothing and are available to fit all shapes and sizes.
The photo studio opened last weekend and will open again this Saturday and Sunday before opening seven days a week from Good Friday over the two week Easter holidays.
Next week’s Standard will also feature a competition offering readers a free family photo worth up to £40.
