Silver band gig

Alford Silver Band is set to perform its Christmas concert a day earlier than planned.

It’s concert will now be held in St Wilfrid’s Church Hall, Alford on Wednesday, December 12 at 7.30pm.

There will be no charge for admission and free refreshments, but there will be a raffle, as well as the opportunity for the audience to make a donation to band funds as they leave.

And with the programme planned by Steve Walker, and his ability to captivate an audience with his legendary humour, a great evening’s entertainment of music and laughter is guaranteed.

“We have so many beautiful arrangements of Christmas music that it was difficult for Steve to know what to leave out,” said band chairman, Martin Briggs. “But his final choices are certain to bring a smile to everyone’s faces.”

Cameo performances will also be given by the Alford Primary School choir and the band’s own, youthful training section.

The free concert promises a terrific start to the festive period and is certainly not to be missed. The Church Hall is easy to find, being next door to St Wilfrid’s Church (the large church in the centre of Alford) with ample, free parking space in the car park opposite.

Further information about the band’s busy Christmas programme and start of 2012 can be obtained from the band secretary, Jane Taylor via 01507 466330, or via secretary@alfordsilverband.co.uk or from the band’s website at www.alfordsilverband.co.uk.
