Remember, remember the dates for the forthcoming local bonfire bonanzas

Whether or not you have your own bonfire party preparations underway to celebrate the gunpowder treason and plot of November 5, 1605; the firewood has been stacked and the kindling ready to light at many organised local events to celebrate Guy Fawkes night with a bang.
An explosive bonfire weekend will begin with a number of events in the locality on Saturday, November 3 as Alford, Spilsby and Burgh all have displays planned.
Alford’s display will take place at Alford Cricket ground from 6pm and has been organised by the Alford Round Table.
Burgh’s event will be held at Lyndhurst Garden Centre with the bonfire lit at 7pm and fireworks from 7.30pm.
It has been organised by Spilsby Round Table with an estimated £7,000 worth of fireworks ready to be ignited. All proceeds will go to local charities.
Entrance is £3 for adults and £1 for children.
A great family event is also planned for Spilsby, who are to hold a hotly contested guy competition.
Spilsby’s event will start at 6.30pm on November 3 off Post Office Lane and will feature firework displays, a bonfire and stalls selling food, refreshments and bric-a-brac.
Organised by Spilsby’s Rotary Club, competitors for the guy competition will be admitted free and the winners will receive a £10 prize.
Admission otherwise for adults as £3.
Two further major displays are organised for the Skegness area on Sunday, November 4.
Skegness Stadium will offer a mix of stock car, banger racing and a ‘spectacular firework display’ with kids going free.
Raising money for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire air ambulance, adults advance tickets are £10.99 with pay on the gate prices £13.50, seniors £10 and juniors £5.
The display at the Royal Hotel in Skegness,organised by the local Rotary club begins at 6.30pm with a £1 minimum donation.
With thousands of pounds worth of fireworks promised, Manager Nigel Dorman said, “Last year more than 1,000 people turned out and we raised £1,800 for Rotary.”
