MOVIE masterpiece Metropolis will be the next movie to screen at Louth Film Club.

The black-and-white classic will be shown on Monday (September 3) at 7.30pm in the Playhouse Cinema in Louth.

“The film club will be screening a comprehensively restored version of one of the great silent classics, Metropolis,” said a spokesperson.

“It includes scenes that were cut after the film’s first release, in 1927, and were thought to have been lost, and the club’s high-definition digital print also features the stirring original musical score.

“Directed by Fritz Lang, Metropolis portrays a futuristic city where the priviliged elite depend for their luxury lifestyle on an underground and unseen working class, and it tells a love story that crosses the divide.

“BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s film reviewer, Dr Sudip Bhaduri, will be giving a short introduction to what is one of his favourite films,” they added.

Metropolis is Certificate PG. Non-members are welcome, paying the normal Playhouse Cinema ticket prices.
