Lincolnshire children choose short-list in book competition
Young literature lovers in Lincolnshire have been invited to vote for their favourite short-listed book in the county’s annual competition.
The final five novels in the 9-11 and 12-14 age categories of the Lincolnshire Young People’s Book Award have been announced and children now have until May 24 to vote for their top choice.
Lincolnshire County Council hopes the competition will encourage more of the county’s children to read for pleasure.
Executive member for children’s services Coun Patricia Bradwell said: “Young people aged between nine and 14 years, who live or go to school in Lincolnshire, or use the county’s library services, can vote online, at local libraries or through their schools.
“The annual awards encourage young people to take pleasure in reading and help develop debating skills and an appreciation of good stores.”
Libraries, including mobile services, will be stocking the short-listed novels so that young people can read the various entries before casting their vote.
The short-listed entries feature a wide range of genres written by new and established authors and can be viewed here
