Chip in for major poker tournament
THE east coast's first major poker tournament will take place at the Beachcomber pub, Ingoldmells, on January 26.
The 'hold'em' poker event will be sponsored by Sky Sports Poker and could even be screened on TV.
Organiser Marty Lee, an entertainer from Skegness, said: "It's the first one on the east coast and it's a big game in the country.
"Anybody can join in and we are looking for about 100 players.
"There will be proper dealers and tournament directors to run the game."
Hold'em means each player starts with two cards and the remaining cards are shared.
The game will begin at noon and should finish at around 6pm.
There is expected to be a prize pool of around 7,000 and cash prizes will be given to the last 10 players.
Everyone taking part will enter a 50 freeze out, which means once the money is gone the player is out.
Mr Lee also plans to set up a poker league in local pubs.
He said: "Poker is one of the fastest up and coming games in the country at the moment and there's a lot people getting interested in playing it after seeing it on TV.
"We're going to organise a league which any local pub can join.
"It's not counted as gambling because it is a game of skill rather than chance. The league will only be for points."
Registration for the tournament begins from 11.30am and there will be a 10 entrance fee. Places are going fast.
