Busy autumn for Silver Band
The Alford Silver Band during their recent performance at Well.
ALFORD Silver Band is set to kick off a busy autumn season when it teams up with near beighbours Skegness Silver Band to form the massed Lincolnshire Brass this weekend.
They will take to the stage of the Embassy Theatre on Sunday (September 30) as part of the Last Night of the Proms show.
“This will be the third year running that we have formed part of Lincolnshire Brass,” commented band chairman Martin Briggs. “It’s a double-sized brass band and consequently the performance is twice as good,“ he chuckled. “We’ll be putting on a fantastic show and we‘re all looking forward to being part of it”
Tickets are available from the Embassy Theatre box office.
By way of contrast, the Alford band will next play at the Harvest Festival in the tiny rural church at Beesby, near Alford, on Thursday, October 4, before moving on to Chapel St Leonards Village Hall for a Remembrance concert on Thursday, November 8.
Further information about the band can be obtained from the band secretary, Jane Taylor via 01507 466330, or go to www.alfordsilverband.co.uk.
