Addlethorpe artist wows at exhibition
May Jones
A stunning artistic display was unveiled to guests during a special launch event on Friday.
Talented artist May Jones from Addlethorpe revealed her latest collection being displayed at The Embassy Theatre Skegness’s gallery, and many art lovers and guests attended for the event.
May’s work explores mixed media and collage using recycled materials with the current series of images depicting the life-span of sunflowers and plant life.
Speaking at the preview night, May said: “I used the sunflower in particular as a mode of transport as there are so many stages to its life-cycle.
“The pieces look at the whole life of the plant and I used collage and recycled materials to show the different textures to almost make it seem alive.
“I like the sunflower because there are many stages; it has a very rigid stem but it is full of colour.”
Work by North Somercotes artist Sheila Pearce is also available to view, called ‘Art in Glass’.
The pieces by both artists are available to view until December 9
