EDITOR - As a relatively new caravan owner I find the family in the resort to be very poor after 8pm.
It seems that all the open air concessions close at about that time and as such force families that wish to stay out later than 8.30pm into the pubs where they might not wish to take their children or alternatively into the few amusement arcades that
remain open after that time.
I admit these places often offer entertainment of one type or another but most are relatively dark and not very welcoming environments.
In contrast the ice cream, snack, drink concession on North Parade between the pier and the Embassy Centre is extremely family friendly.
I was enjoying a pleasant drink and the late evening warmth last Sunday when at 8.15pm the operator informed me that he had been told he had to close in 15 minutes. He then promptly commenced to clear away tables and chairs at the same time offering repeated apologies.
This state of affairs cannot be good for the future of the resort as it tries to attract a larger share of the home tourist market.
I feel that Skegness needs to make up its mind as to what section of the population it is seeking to attract. It would appear that though it may talk itself up as a family resort it does little to provide facilities for families that holiday in Skegness and wish to remain out of bed or away from the TV until the late late time of 9pm.
