EDITOR – I would like to write why us cyclists (disabled or able bodied) use the pavements to ride on.
The council should consider why cyclists ride on pavements, and is the council thinking of fining cyclists for being on the pavements instead of the dangerous roads? I am a disabled cyclist with a tri-bike and I feel safer on the pavement.

The owners of every vehicle should give the correct width to cyclists on the road before they pass, but they don't and this forces cyclists onto the pavements.

There are good drivers who overtake with the correct width and to them I say thank you. To the idiotic, bad drivers I say retake your driving tests or give in your driving licence.

I also believe younger cyclists with their parents should use the pavements.

What will the council and drivers do if cyclists get hurt or killed while on the roads?

If the town and district councils want cyclists using the roads, they should invest in safer cycle paths in the town and villages.

I have one area in mind, Burgh Road, which could have cycle paths put on the verges either side.
