EDITOR - Ref Mr Taylor's comments on caravan fees. I have now lived in this town for 23 years, all of which I have paid my council taxes, water rates, etc.
I'm in full agreement with the council that they start charging caravan owners. Why should they live here in caravans that they use as permanent homes and not have to pay?
They still use the water, sewers and local amenities, so why should they be exempt?
If they lived in a house like many people do in Skegness, they would have to pay.
The council loses revenue every year that we do not make these charges. Is Mr Taylor afraid that he will have to pay this cost, as he is one of many that live in a caravan 11 months out of the year? Should I sell my house, buy a static caravan and save £1,500 per year by not paying council tax and water rates?
I think Mr Taylor is the short-sighted one, not the council. It is about time this council got off their backsides and did something about it.
I can't say that I agree with much this council does, but on this occasion they have my full backing.
