Editor – I share the comments made by S Litster in your May 13 edition. To enter a competition for best kept market town is a waste of time and money, the mayor and his councillors obviously walk around with their eyes closed, they also appear unable or incapable of identifying the problems in the town.
Perhaps a ride to Wainfleet might just give them an idea of how to smarten up the empty shops at little or no cost.
Have they not noticed most of the free parking spaces in the town are taken up by the shop owners? This stops people pulling into town to pop into a shop for a quick purchase.
Allocate the shop owners a parking space at the Boston Road or Post Office Lane car parks. Have regular meetings with the shop owners to discuss ways of attracting more business into the town, like staying open later than four o'clock and not closing on a Saturday afternoon.
Perhaps a visit to Horncastle and a meeting with their town council to see how they have made the town buzz on a Saturday? One Saturday I expect to see the mayor walking down the middle of the high street with the tumble weed rolling at his feet. They need to get to grips with the problems.
