EDITOR - In respect to your piece in the Standard, April 23, concerning Vine Walk I need to clarify our position.
When East Lindsey District Council conducted original access audits re Vine Walk it was already clear there were questions of responsibility and ownership regarding Vine Walk.

As audits were already under way ELDC estimated the costs of the total works.

Now as we move forward with those works ownership has been established and the section which we as a council are responsible for will have works to the value of £4,700 undertaken presently.
Work on the other sections are the responsibility of those who own it.

ELDC has not withdrawn funding, it was never our responsibility in the first place.
ELDC is fully committed to supporting the Disability Discrimination Act and undertaking works to all of its assets to make them compliant.

To date we have spent £2 million of public money across the district with some £500,000 of that spent in Skegness alone.
To date we have completed 90.91 per cent of all our targeted works.

I trust this clarifies the matter.
Coun Colin Davie
Portfolio Holder Business Support and Finance
East Lindsey District Council
