Sunday, 9am: MONTHLY northern soul nights are held at the Square Peg, Grand Parade, Skegness, attracting a large number of 'soulies' who love to dance the night away.
Many years ago, Skegness teenagers were bitten by the northern soul bug and would travel by coach, car or train to various towns in order to hear and dance to rare Tamla Motown records.
Now, the urges of those with a passion for grooving to the classics are catered for right here in Skegness, with regular nights at the Square Peg, as well as twice-yearly weekenders at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
Some of those in attendance may be a little larger around the waist than they were 35 years ago, but the passion for northern soul has not disappeared, and the smooth sounds of legendary motown are enjoyed until two or three in the morning!
The next event will be held on Saturday, May 10, with both local and guest DJs on the decks, including Midge from Lincoln and Smudge from Peterborough.
One of the most respected legends of the northern soul scene, Martin 'Soul Sam' Barnfather, from North Wales, will also make an appearance.
People are expected to travel from Preston, Nottingham, Cambridge, and many other parts of the UK.
It is sure to be a tremendous night, so put on your dancing shoes, grab your talc and get on down!
